About me

You are NOT your addiction. You're someone with a story, a journey & the potential for change. I'm here to offer you hope, without judgment or unrealistic expectations. Recovery isn't about being perfect or adhering to strict rules - it's about taking small steps towards a better life of your choosing. Recovery doesn’t have to start with abstinence or the label of “addict.” The traditional definition of success - 'quit everything now, forever' - is outdated & often unrealistic. Instead, let's focus on what works for you; be that stopping altogether, moderation, or another approach entirely. No one size fits all solution. You are unique.

We'd begin by exploring what makes the behaviour so compelling, despite problematic consequences. Utilising Harm Reduction Therapy, Brainspotting, ACT & Mindfulness, we then build a pathway to change based around your goals and values. You'll learn alternative ways of coping, find relief from shame & stigma and, most importantly, address any immediate harms.

Training, qualifications & experience

With years of experience in the field of addiction, I've dedicated my practice to helping individuals like yourself reclaim control over their lives. My approach is rooted in empathy, understanding, and a deep commitment to your well-being. I believe in the power of personalised care, recognising that no two journeys are alike and that cookie-cutter solutions simply won't suffice.

As well as having a Post Graduate Diploma in Addiction Psychology, I've also trained with Dr Andrew Tatarsky, a leading expert in Harm Reduction Psychotherapy, where each individual receives a tailored approach, exploring different goals; be that less risky behaviour, reducing harm or stopping altogether. Our work together would never be insistent on you committing to abstinence. That's a choice only you can make and is not the only barometer of success.

Trained in all 3 Brainspotting Phases, my approach is Trauma Informed, allowing you to not only explore your thoughts and feelings, but also the skills required to manage cravings, build internal resources and emotional regulation. Specialist areas include Cocaine, Alcohol and Gambling issues and having worked extensively in various residential addiction facilities, my approach offers a more individualised and flexible solution for the many people who don't require inpatient care.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
