About me

Working in Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders, Just Wandering Outdoor Therapy offers psychodynamic counselling & psychotherapy in nature, where the open air and natural surroundings support a gentle exploration of your thoughts, feelings, and unconscious patterns.

This approach combines psychodynamic therapy with the calming, regulative presence of the natural environment. Rooted in the understanding that unconscious patterns and early relational experiences shape current behaviour and emotional life, psychodynamic therapy supports insight, emotional processing, and long-term growth.

As we walk, sit, or simply breathe outdoors, we create space to gently explore your inner world - using nature’s metaphors to illuminate feelings, relationships, and experiences that might otherwise remain hidden. Meeting outdoors allows nature to act as a co-therapist - offering a grounding, spacious setting in which to explore complex feelings, relational dynamics, and the deeper layers of your inner experience.

This work is especially suited for those facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or major life changes who are ready to engage in deeper self-reflection and healing.

All bodies, identities, and life experiences are welcome here. Nature meets you exactly where you are-and so do I. Together, we’ll walk alongside your process-finding insight, clarity, and renewal one step at a time.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Reach out to schedule a brief 15-minute phone call to ask questions and see if psychodynamic therapy feels right for you.

Your first session is a 50-minute online meeting where we’ll explore your current challenges and your connection to nature. We’ll also plan your next session together. The second session will be outdoors, in a location you choose - giving you a chance to experience how we work, set therapy goals, and build trust in a natural setting.

We’ll have a clear foundation to build on, and you’ll have the freedom to decide if continuing the work feels right for you.

There’s no fixed timeline for this work - it’s a process of ongoing discovery. Some clients come for a short period during a time of transition, while others stay longer to explore deeper patterns. However long you choose to continue, the aim is to support your growth in a way that feels steady, meaningful, and rooted in your lived experience.
