About me
Hello!
I'm Rhian and I'm a BACP-registered integrative psychotherapist. This means that I am trained in several models of therapy and will draw on different therapeutic ideas depending on what feels most useful for you. At the heart of my practise is the person-centred approach which scaffolds the client-therapist relationship and provides warmth, safety and collaboration between us.
I offer one-to-one therapy to provide you with a confidential space to explore the issues that you might be facing in your life. I am warm, empathetic and work in a collaborative way with my clients.
If you are interested in pursuing therapy, the first step is to make an initial enquiry. Within our first contact I will try to answer any questions you may have about the process, or about me as a therapist. Following that, if you feel comfortable to do so we can book in our first session, always keeping in mind that the direction and duration of therapy is in your hands.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a BACP-registered Level 7 counsellor and psychotherapist, with a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of South Wales.
Training & Qualifications
- PG Dip Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy - University of South Wales
- PG Cert Integrative Counselling Skills - University of South Wales
- BACP Registered Member
In addition to my counselling practice I work in bereavement support at a local hospice, where I also gained my clinical experience during my training. Prior to this I worked in academia with university students. My experience within differing sectors has given me a broad understanding of the emotional and psychological challenges that people can experience across their lifespan.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
