About me
Hi, I’m Becki,
I am a Cardiff-based counsellor and a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) with 15 years’ experience as a mental health nurse.
I am skilled at providing compassionate support to people in distress. I offer a warm, gentle, and non-judgemental space where we can work through whatever you need, together. You may wish to explore your experiences, relationships, or sense of self with a trained professional counsellor.
Choosing a therapist can feel overwhelming, and everybody has their own unique situations. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to arrange an initial conversation. I aim to respond within 48 hours. If you don’t see a reply, please check your junk folder as messages can sometimes be filtered there. To help you see if we are the right fit, I offer a free, no-obligation, up to 30-minute, remote consultation.
Training, qualifications & experience
My integrative counselling approach means I can tailor therapy to you, doing more of what works for you and less of what doesn’t!
I am trained in and able to draw upon person-centred, psychodynamic, and existential modalities.
Additionally, I can use strategies informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focussed Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focussed Therapy (SFT) within my scope; however, I do not offer formal CBT, CFT, ACT, or SFT.
My experience in mental health nursing means I am skilled in caring for people with common mental health conditions such as depression or anxiety, through to less common conditions such as schizophrenia or dementia, and supporting family members of people with these conditions.
I have a particular interest in anticipatory grief, offering a gentle, informed space for an often overlooked experience.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
