About me
From my experience some of the main reasons people seek counselling or therapy is their desire to change and/or to find some relief from distress. My purpose is to help you achieve this and support you during the process.
Perhaps you are feeling frustrated with repeating patterns of behaviour that feel hard to understand and change. Maybe you are feeling depressed, anxious, overwhelmed, suffering with self-doubt and low self-esteem or generally disappointed with how life is for you right now. These are just a few of the issues that I can help you with. We can work together to explore these issues. to help you understand yourself at a deeper level, to bring more clarity to your life and to think about any changes you might want to make.
Counselling or therapy provides a space for you to talk, where you do not have to worry about being a burden, and in time, troubling thoughts, behaviour and feelings can be expressed. Although I will encourage you to talk and reflect on many parts of your life, you do not have to talk about anything you do not wish to and we will always work at your pace. I will help you make sense of your situation by exploring your thoughts, feelings, hopes and fears, so you can move towards a place where change feels possible. I will provide a supportive and confidential environment, free of judgement with whatever you choose to bring.
I am an experienced psychodynamic counsellor. Working psychodynamically means that I believe that many of our present feelings, emotions and thinking are influenced by our early relationships with our parents or carers and from our childhood experiences. These experiences can shape the way we are as adults. I will work with you so we can seek to understand how those influences might be impacting you now. My aim is to help you reach a better understanding of yourself.
I offer open ended/long term therapy which means the number of sessions isn't fixed.
I also offer shorter term therapy if there is a specific issue you wish to work on and we can think together about how many sessions might be required.
Please do get in touch via email or leave a message on my mobile. I will always aim to respond within 24 hours.
I work from my therapy room close to the centre of St Albans, which has a small car park and there is other nearby free street parking.
I can also offer sessions via several online platforms or on the telephone.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
