About me
Do you feel anxious or on edge in relationships, but more confident when you're on your own? Do you find yourself holding back how you feel to avoid conflict, only to later feel disappointed, overlooked or unsure of where you stand? Are you struggling with low confidence or anxiety that is affecting your relationships, choices or work?
Some people notice repeating patterns in relationships - feeling drawn to emotionally unavailable partners or worry they might be rejected. Others feel stuck in dynamics that feel confusing, hard to understand or change.
If some of this feels familiar, you're not alone. Many people struggle with relationships problems, anxiety or confidence in themselves and their choices. Even when surrounded by others, it can still feel hard to say what's really going or find the right words to explain it, which can leave you feeling stuck or isolated.
Therapy offers a space to slow things down and talk openly without judgment or pressure. Being able to speak freely and be heard can help things feel clearer and less overhwelming. This can make a real difference to how you feel.
Sometimes people already have an understanding about what might be going on but still feel stuck in it. Therapy can help you move from thinking about patterns to understanding and experiencing them differently, in a way that supports change.
Working together
I have nearly a decade of experience working as a psychodynamic counsellor in St Albans. I help people make sense of their thoughts and feelings, explore patterns that feel unhelpful and think about what may be getting in the way from living more fully or more aligned with the way you want it.
We will look at how your past experiences may continue to shape your present feelings, relationships, and ways of relating to yourself and others.
Rather than providing quick fixes or prescriptive solutions I take the time to understand you and your experiences, working at your pace. Although I will encourage you to talk and reflect on different parts of your life, you do not have to talk about anything you do not wish to.
Getting started
To help you decide if working together feels right, I offer a free 20 minute introductory call. This can take place online or by phone and I usually respond within 24 hours.
This an opportunity for you to share what you are looking for help with and ask any questions about how I work or therapy in general. If you decide you would like to begin, we can arrange a time that works for you. I offer weekly sessions with the possibility of twice weekly where appropriate.
I have availability for in person sessions in St Albans (Sandridge Road AL1) with free parking and I am also happy to work online or by phone.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
