About me

I offer online therapy.

I am trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, (Eye Movement Desensitzation Reprocessing) and NET (Narrative exposure Therapy).

I am a mental health nurse by background and I have over 20 years experience of working with individuals with mental health related problems but my particular expertise is in working with trauma. I am passionate about and highly committed to the work I do.

I am a veteran and can offer understanding to veterans looking for support with their mental health.

A brief outline of each therapy I am able to offer is as follows:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a highly effective treatment for Depression and Anxiety related issues and is recommended by the NHS in their guidelines as an evidence based effective treatment for such issues. It is particularly effective for treating Depression, Panic Attacks, Agoraphobia, Social Phobia, General Phobias, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Health Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Low Self Esteem, Chronic Fatigue, Bulimia Nervosa. (This is not an exhaustive list of the problems that CBT is effective for).

Eye Movement De-sensitizaton Reprocessing (EMDR) is a specialist treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, although it can also be used for some anxiety related issues and in the treatment of phobias. When a person goes through a traumatic event the event becomes frozen in time and when this event gets triggered by an event or stimulus in everyday life it can feel to the person that they are back at the time of the trauma. EMDR re processes the event so that it can be healed and integrated into a persons whole system rather than remaining split off. It is a treatment that is recommended by the NHS in their guidelines as an evidence based effective treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
