About me

When you're feeling like things are getting on top of you, life is getting out of control and you need some time to detangle your web of thoughts, counselling can offer some objective space for you to really grapple with what's happening for you.

As a counsellor, I will walk alongside you while you untangle your thoughts and emotions, picking out certain 'golden nuggets' that we think are important to explore further to help you get to your best version of yourself.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am trained as a person-centred counsellor. Person centred counselling puts you, as the client, at the centre of our work. Meaning you are in control of what is spoken about in each session and how each session runs.

I believe, as a person-centred counsellor, that you know yourself better than anyone else and I trust you to bring into each session what truly needs to be worked on.

This doesn’t mean I won’t challenge you occasionally if I feel you need it. But that we will always work at your pace and walk side by side together in the process.

I am a registered member of the BACP, holding the post nominals MBACP.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I offer a free 30 minute consultation over the phone after you have initially contacted me about working together. Here you can tell me what is going on for you and I can tell you what it will be like to work with me. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the process. This will help you to make an informed decision about whether having me as your counsellor is the best decision for you at this time.

If you would like to work together, we shall select a regular weekly time slot and I will send you a zoom link for our first session together.

If you are a student counsellor in training, I do offer a concessionary fee of £35.00.

Further information

I offer virtual counselling, using zoom. I ask all clients to ensure they are in a private and quiet space for the virtual counselling session.

Our counselling sessions will run for 50 minutes and will continue for as long as we feel the counselling is needed.

I follow BACP's ethical framework as part of my client work which can be found on the BACP website.

Although my practice is predominantly person-centred, I will introduce other practices or techniques if I feel it will work best for you in the session.

My person centred counselling skills are here to help you navigate what is going on for you right now and how we can help you get to where you want to be.
