About me
I work gently and compassionately with a wide range of issues including trauma, abuse, relationship issues, anxiety, dissociation, difficulty relating to others, and struggling to find meaning in life. Therapy can also provide a wonderful opportunity to understand ourselves better, resulting in a better quality of life, and more satisfying and affirming connections with others. I welcome people of all gender identities, sexual practices and orientations, and relationship structures, and I am kink-knowledgeable.
I come to my work with humility and curiosity and recognise that each therapeutic relationship is unique. I believe that building trust and a solid foundation is crucial for that relationship, so I work with you to create a space that feels safe enough for you to explore whatever you think is important. It is always up to you to set the agenda.
My practice is psychodynamic, trauma-informed, and influenced by queer theory and queer of colour critique. This means that I believe in the value of paying attention to what might be going on ‘under the surface’ in ourselves, in our relationships, and in social groups, as well as in our conscious thought processes and choices.
I work hard to practise in an anti-oppressive way, which means I actively explore my power and privilege, and what that brings to bear on my actions and words, both in and outside the consulting room.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Practice and many years experience of in activism and work with survivors of sexual violence and in queer and kink communities.
I am accredited by the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society.
