About me

Welcome I’m Portia, a UKCP-accredited psychotherapist based in Bristol.

Together, in the safe and confidential relationship we develop, we can explore what’s happening for you and what might support you in moving towards a meaningful and fulfilling life.

Perhaps you are feeling anxious, low, stuck, numb or confused. My approach places the mind-body connection at the heart of our work together. Our bodies recall our emotional pain with more clarity than our brains can remember. It is also our embodied connection that is central in healing unresolved emotional distress.

Core Process Psychotherapy integrates mindfulness with contemporary psychodynamic understanding. Mindfulness practices have, for millennia, acknowledged the mind-body connection, a link now supported by contemporary neuroscience and trauma research.

All you need to do is bring yourself to sessions with curiosity and openness. We will work creatively and collaboratively, at a pace that feel right for you. As your awareness, understanding and compassion grows, this greater clarity can empower you to move towards connection, wholeness and wellbeing.

If you like the sound of my approach, or have any questions, please do get in touch. I offer a free 30 minute introductory meeting, which is an opportunity to see if we might work well together.

Further information

Core Process Psychotherapy weaves together western psychodynamic thinking and trauma-informed understanding with Buddhist body-mind psychology and mindfulness practices.

Mindfulness is about paying attention to what is happening in the present moment - sensations, emotions and thoughts. You don’t need any experience of meditation or to hold a particular belief to benefit from this approach - just a willingness to bring yourself to sessions with openness and curiosity.
