About me

Hi there and welcome to my profile. My name is Poppy and I am a BACP registered Psychodynamic Counsellor based in Essex. I trained at University of Essex doing an MA in Psychodynamic Counselling with specialised training in working with children and young adults.

I was drawn to becoming a therapist as I strongly believe that everyone deserves to feel heard and understood and to be given the opportunity to tell their story in their own words. Whether you are struggling with low mood, anxiety, intrusive thoughts or simply feel that you are finding it hard to deal with what life throws at you, I am here to offer a safe and non-judgemental space for you to work through your thoughts and feelings.

I have a lot of experience working with those with ADHD and ASD, as well as those who are battling or are in recovery from disordered eating and self-harm and feel that I am able to offer a calm and steady base for those who feel like they often struggle to feel grounded.

To be part of someone’s healing journey feels like such a privilege and it is wonderful having a job where I can witness people transform into the best version of themselves. While a lot of my work is concerned with helping my clients find the roots of their struggles, I also feel that it is important to find strategies to work towards a more positive future and ignite a sense of purpose and love for life.

I am able to offer remote or in-person services in a calm and quiet space in the heart of historic Colchester.

To find out more, please contact me via email so we can schedule a free, 15-minute chat over the phone.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
