About me
Maybe it feels daunting thinking about therapy, maybe there's an overwhelming amount of choice or it gets too complicated, maybe things feel too big, perhaps too small, perhaps you have no idea where to start. I understand, I've had those questions myself. I will hold a space where this is welcome, indeed a part of the experience as we find a way through together.
Trained in an integration of psychodynamic, humanistic and existential approaches I draw primarily on existential thought in my practice. This approach doesn't seek to pathologise suffering but recognises and honours it as part of the immense challenge of human experience. Here we ask how might we live amongst this, how might we live with others, what is a meaningful life for us. For me it is a therapy which places emphasis on possibility, freedom and choice within a deeply human relationship.
In our sessions I will invite you to describe present and past experiences and offer a particular kind of attention and engagement - seeking not to explain or theorise but for us to go closer and closer into your experience and see what may reveal itself. Creating deep insights about self and opening up possibilities for living.
I see that we also have quite a unique opportunity to explore what happens between us; which in my experience (as both a client and therapist) can be of great value in our work.
I work longer term / open ended allowing us freedom for unfolding at your pace, deep exploration, and to work towards an ending when you feel ready. That being said I am happy to discuss with you financial / other constraints on our work and explore how we move forward with this ending in mind.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a postgraduate diploma in psychotherapy and counselling and an MA in Existential Psychotherapy from Regents University. I am currently completing a PGCEP in Existential Psychotherapy.
I also have 16 years experience in the voluntary sector both working with older people, carers and young people directly as well as leading national teams and projects.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
