About me

Hello, I'm Phil — it's lovely to meet you.

Taking the first step into counselling can feel daunting, and finding the right person to walk alongside you is essential. I believe in the power of talking — sharing your thoughts and feelings in a safe, understanding space can be truly transformative. Having experienced counselling myself, I deeply understand how important that connection and support can be.

With over 15 years of experience, I offer a compassionate, person-centred approach tailored to your unique needs. I also integrate mindfulness techniques, which can be especially helpful for managing anxiety and depression, alongside CBT strategies to help you find the path that feels right for you.

I specialise and have experience in supporting people through:

  • Bereavement and loss including Pets
  • Life-changing illness
  • Anxiety and depression
  • LGBTQIA+ experiences
  • Low self-esteem
  • Family and relationship challenges
  • Sexual violence
  • Trauma
  • Burn Out
  • Domestic Violence
  • Bullying

I am also safe space for neurodivergent clients who are seeking a place to help them understand and process Autism and ADHD.

I’ve worked with individuals facing a wide range of struggles — from the loss of a loved one or job, to confidence issues or unresolved pain from childhood. One idea that’s stayed with me since I began this journey is that many challenges stem from some form of loss. It’s a perspective I’ve found to be both grounding and insightful.

To help you decide if I’m the right fit, I offer a free 15-minute initial appointment. Feel free to drop me an email or give me a call — I’d be happy to chat. Also I don't like cost coming between you receiving therapy so let me know if this becomes an issue.

Training, Qualifications & Experience I’ve been a qualified counsellor since 2011 and have worked with organisations such as Victim Support and a bereavement and loss charity, offering both emotional and practical support.

My credentials include:

Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy
Diploma in Mindfulness
Bereavement Training
Trauma-Informed Practice
Domestic Violence Support
Drug & Alcohol Counselling
Victims of Crime Support
Anxiety & Depression Management
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)                                                                   OCD informed training                                                                                               I'm a registered member of the BACP (48304) and fully adhere to their ethical guidelines.

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply curious about how counselling might help, I’m here to listen. I look forward to connecting with you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
