About me
I’m Nicole Drewett, a BACP-registered Integrative Counsellor with a First-Class Honours degree in Psychology. I offer a warm, thoughtful and confidential space where you can feel heard, understood and supported, without fear of judgement or pressure to have everything figured out.
I believe that behind the difficulties we experience, there is often a deeper story that deserves to be understood. Perhaps you are struggling with anxiety, stress, grief, low self-esteem or a sense of feeling overwhelmed. You may be navigating a difficult relationship, facing a significant life change or finding that patterns of thought and behaviour are affecting how you feel about yourself and relate to others. You may also be experiencing the pressure to perform, meet expectations or maintain a sense of control while feeling overwhelmed beneath the surface.
My integrative approach means that I draw on different therapeutic perspectives, tailoring our work to your individual needs, experiences and pace. I am interested not only in what is happening in your life now, but also in understanding the experiences and relationships that may have shaped how you see yourself and the world around you. Together, we can begin to make sense of these connections, explore difficult emotions and develop a greater understanding of yourself.
I have experience supporting people through different forms of grief and loss, including traumatic bereavement, as well as difficulties relating to anxiety, stress, self-worth and emotional wellbeing. My work is grounded in careful listening, sensitivity and respect for each person’s unique circumstances. I recognise that speaking about painful or complex experiences can feel daunting, and that trust develops in its own time.
My background also includes a qualification encompassing athletic development from a psychological perspective. Alongside my experience in performance environments, this has informed my interest in the psychological demands of performing, competing and striving to meet high expectations. I understand how the pursuit of achievement can intersect with identity, confidence, self-worth and the fear of not being good enough. Whether pressures arise in professional life, sport, the performing arts, family or everyday responsibilities, therapy can offer space to explore what lies beneath the drive to keep going, and to develop a healthier relationship with achievement, expectations and yourself.
My experience in education and supporting children’s emotional wellbeing has further strengthened my appreciation of how differently people communicate and process their experiences. I aim to meet each person as an individual, remaining attentive to what is said, what may be difficult to express and what might help them feel safe enough to explore it.
I am fully bilingual in English and French and offer the opportunity to explore your experiences in either language. For some people, being able to express themselves in their first or preferred language can make it easier to access feelings, memories and nuances that are difficult to convey in another language. I recognise the importance of finding words that feel authentic to you, and of feeling understood in the language in which you feel most comfortable.
My aim is to help you move beyond simply coping, towards a deeper understanding of yourself, greater self-compassion and meaningful change.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a BACP-qualified Integrative Counsellor with a First-Class Honours degree in Psychology, bringing together professional counselling training, psychological insight and a breadth of experience working with people through some of life’s most challenging and defining moments.
My background in psychology informs my understanding of how our thoughts, emotions, relationships and past experiences shape the way we see ourselves and navigate the world. As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different therapeutic perspectives to offer an approach that is thoughtful, compassionate and tailored to you as an individual. I believe that meaningful change begins with feeling genuinely heard, understood and accepted, without judgement or pressure to be anything other than yourself.
I have experience supporting people navigating bereavement and complex loss, including the impact of unexpected and traumatic deaths. I also work with concerns around anxiety and stress, fertility difficulties, IVF, adoption, menopause, family changes and other significant life transitions, such as moving home or changing careers. These experiences can bring a complex mixture of emotions, uncertainty and questions about identity, relationships and the future.
My experience also includes working directly with children through Place2Be, a children’s mental health charity providing counselling and emotional support in schools. This work has deepened my appreciation of how difficult experiences can affect self-esteem, emotional expression and our sense of safety in relationships, and how important it is to create a space where people feel able to explore what may be difficult to put into words.
My professional background is distinctive in another important respect. I have worked as an elite dancer and qualified sports instructor, and hold a degree in Psychology and French that included the study of athletic development from a psychological perspective. This has given me a particular interest in the pressures associated with performance, high expectations, identity, confidence and the feeling that we must keep going, achieve or appear capable, even when we are struggling internally.
I am fluent in both English and French and can offer counselling in either language.
Across my work, I aim to combine psychological understanding with warmth, curiosity and genuine human connection. I do not believe in one-size-fits-all solutions or quick fixes. Instead, I offer a confidential, supportive space in which we can explore your experiences at your own pace, develop a deeper understanding of yourself and work towards changes that feel meaningful and sustainable.
I understand that reaching out for counselling can feel daunting. You do not need to have everything worked out or know exactly what to say before you begin. My aim is to help you feel safe enough to explore what is happening beneath the surface, recognise your own strengths and discover new ways of moving forward.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting. Perhaps you have been managing things alone for a long time, feel overwhelmed by emotions you cannot quite make sense of, or find yourself repeating patterns you wish you could change.
Whatever brings you here, you don't need to have all the answers before we begin.
My approach is warm, thoughtful and deeply individual. I believe that meaningful therapeutic work happens when you feel genuinely heard and understood, without judgement, pressure or the expectation that you should already know how to make things better. Together, we can begin to explore what lies beneath the surface, make sense of your experiences and understand how they may be affecting the way you feel, think and relate to others.
I am particularly interested in the experiences we carry quietly: the expectations we place on ourselves, the parts of ourselves we feel we must hide, the losses that change us, and the moments in life when the person we have been no longer quite fits who we are becoming. Sometimes, what we most need is not advice or another solution, but the opportunity to pause, feel understood and see ourselves differently.
I offer a space where you can be honest about how things really feel, including the thoughts or emotions you may find difficult to share elsewhere. There is no pressure to make sense of everything at once. We work at your pace, with care and curiosity, towards greater self-understanding, emotional resilience and change that feels authentic and lasting.
I offer counselling in English and French, both in person and online.
If something in these words resonates with you, I would welcome the opportunity to meet for a complimentary 20-minute initial consultation. It is a chance for us to talk about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions you may have and consider whether working together feels right for you.
You don't have to navigate everything alone.
