About me

I provide a warm, creative, and permissive space where you can explore personal issues and emotions at your own pace. I believe the body holds lived experiences and that healing comes through developing mindfulness, presence, and embodiment.

In a relational way, we can look at how family history, trauma, personality, identity, and wider social forces shape your current experience. This process can increase awareness, acceptance, and the capacity for positive change, whether we work together in the short or long term.

Therapy is Self-Care. Just like we might invest in a personal trainer to help with our physical health, an investment in counselling is about developing flexibility, strength and resilience for the mind-body complex. Start Here & Now by arranging a free 20-minute consultation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a Humanistic and Gestalt Counsellor. My style is person-centred - this is your space, and I will follow where you lead. I can use spontaneous Gestalt techniques, such as breathing, movement, meditation, psychodrama and other experiments designed to deepen awareness.

I integrate Attachment Theory and Transactional Analysis to help the understanding of patterns developed in childhood. I draw from years of experience as a Hatha-Yoga teacher, and I use tools from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy to aid growth and wellbeing.

I have a trauma-informed approach, and I am trained and experienced working with clinical depression, self-harm, PTSD, abuse, eating disorders and autoimmune conditions.

I am particularly interested and skilled in working with gender and sexuality, LGBTQ+ needs, and how cultural and societal pressures impact men, women and non-binary individuals in distinct ways.

I come from a multicultural and mixed heritage background, and I find it rewarding to work with identity and cultural issues relating to race, culture, nationality and religion.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
