About me

Hi, I'm Miriam, a BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist supporting adults with a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, and relationship challenges. I currently have availability for new clients and offer both short- and long-term therapy, online wherever you are, and in person at The Eaves, Guildford. My intention is to provide a calm, steady space where you can pause, reflect, feel more grounded, and begin to find clarity and light.

When you are feeling overwhelmed, struggling with feelings of loneliness, grief, anger, shame, anxiety or depression, it can be difficult to know where to turn. I offer a warm, attuned presence alongside you, and as an integrative therapist, draw from a range of approaches tailored to your unique needs. Together, we can begin to make sense of your experiences and reconnect you with your strengths and values, so that you can navigate difficult times with greater choice, self-compassion and understanding.

I offer an inclusive practice and welcome clients from all backgrounds. I work with people exploring their relationship with neurodiversity and support members of the LGBTQIA+ community, offering a queer-friendly and trans-inclusive space where you can arrive exactly as you are.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a BACP-registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist with a First Class BA (Hons) in Integrative-Relational Counselling, committed to providing thoughtful, ethical, and compassionate support that is responsive to your individual needs.

My clinical experience includes working within local mental health charities, where I support adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, relationship challenges, chronic health conditions, and caring responsibilities. I have also worked with children and young people, and have additional training in therapeutic play.

Before training as a counsellor, I worked in a variety of business environments, giving me insight into the pressures of working life, including workplace stress, overwhelm, and burnout.

Alongside my clinical work, I remain committed to ongoing professional training and development, helping me stay informed of current research and best practice while responding thoughtfully to the unique needs of each person I work with. Regular clinical supervision forms an important part of my practice, helping me maintain the quality and integrity of my work.

Counselling has also been an important part of my own life, both before and throughout my professional development. Through my own experience of therapy, I have known the value of having a dedicated space where I could feel heard, understood, and supported in making sense of my experiences. This has deepened my self-understanding and capacity for change, and informs the warmth, honesty, and compassion I bring to my work, alongside a deep respect for the courage it takes to reach out for support.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

I offer sessions online via video, or in-person at The Eaves Guildford in a confidential, wheelchair-accessible room.
