About me

You might be here because something isn’t working the way it used to — or perhaps it never really has. Maybe you tried therapy before and it didn't quite help in the way you hoped.

I work differently:

I am not a therapist who only listens and nods through the session.

I am warm, active and direct. Alongside a space that is genuinely caring, I will gently invite you to look at things from new angles, notice patterns you might not have seen before, and consider possibilities that perhaps haven't occurred to you yet — carefully, at your pace, and only ever in service of where you want to go.

Therapy with me isn’t just about talking — it’s about understanding what’s been keeping you stuck and beginning to shift it, at your pace.

My goal is for you to leave every session with something real:

  • a new way of seeing something,
  • a connection you hadn't made before, a small but meaningful shift
  • or a question to sit with.

Not just an hour that passes.

I work relationally, which means the connection between us matters.

Many of the struggles people bring — low self-worth, relationship difficulties, feeling unseen or unheard— didn’t develop in isolation. They developed in relationships.

So part of the work is creating a space where you feel genuinely met, while also gently exploring the patterns that may be keeping you stuck.

I integrate and draw from a range of approaches including psychodynamic, attachment-based and CBT-informed work, depending on what’s most helpful for you.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all process — we shape the work around you.

Who I Work With

People come to therapy for many different reasons — but often there’s a sense that something isn’t quite right, even if it’s hard to put into words.

I often work with people who:

  • struggle with a relationship breakup
  • experienced childhood trauma and neglect
  • feel stuck in the same patterns in relationships, even when they try to do things differently
  • struggle with self-doubt, overthinking or a harsh inner critic
  • find themselves people-pleasing, overgiving, or finding it hard to say no
  • feel disconnected from themselves or unsure who they really are
  • carry the impact of difficult or complicated family relationships
  • have experienced therapy before but felt it didn’t go deep enough or lead to real change

You might understand your patterns on some level, but still feel unable to shift them, or you may not fully understand why you feel the way you do — only that something keeps repeating or holding you back.

This is where we begin.

I support clients with:

  • anxiety and overthinking
  • trauma and its emotional impact
  • low self-esteem and confidence
  • relationship and attachment difficulties

If you are unsure whether what you are going through is listed here, please get in touch so we could discuss it together. What matters most is that something is getting in the way of you living as fully as you would like and that you want to explore and understand that.

Sessions are available online across the UK or in person in Harrogate.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have published peer-reviewed academic research on childhood trauma, and on autism. This is a research-level understanding of how early experiences shape who we become that I bring directly into my theraputic work.

Prior to private practice I worked in the NHS as a Senior Practitioner delivering therapy sessions based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and supervising fellow practitioners.

  • Master's degree in Cognitive Neuropsychology, The University of Edinburgh
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, Leeds Beckett University
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Psychological Therapies, Exeter University
  • Undergraduate studies in Psychology, University of Warsaw

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and work in full accordance with their ethical framework, which includes regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
