About me
I am Millie, an integrative counsellor specialising in relationships, couples work, grief and emotional wellbeing.
Many of the people I work with come to therapy because something feels difficult to carry alone. You may be feeling disconnected from your partner, caught in the same arguments, grieving someone important, struggling to communicate what you really feel, or finding that life has begun to feel heavier than it once did.
Therapy with me offers a calm, compassionate and confidential space where you can slow things down, feel properly heard, and begin to make sense of what is happening within you and around you.
My approach is warm, respectful and collaborative. I do not believe therapy is about giving advice, judgement or simple answers. Instead, I work alongside you to understand your experience more deeply, explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and support you in finding a way forward that feels meaningful and true to you.
I have a particular interest in relationships and emotional connection. I work with individuals and couples who want to improve communication, rebuild closeness, understand conflict, navigate trust difficulties, or explore the impact of family and relationship experiences. In couples work, I aim to create a balanced and respectful space where both people can feel listened to, understood and supported.
I also have several years’ experience supporting people through grief, bereavement and significant loss. Grief can affect every part of life: identity, relationships, confidence, routine and the future you imagined. I offer a gentle, non-judgemental space where loss can be explored at your own pace, without pressure to move on, minimise your feelings or grieve in a particular way.
Training, qualifications & experience
Over the years, I have undertaken extensive professional training in counselling, couples work, relational therapy, grief and emotional wellbeing. As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different therapeutic perspectives while keeping the relationship between us at the centre of the work.
My practice is grounded in empathy, acceptance and authenticity. This means I aim to meet you as a whole person, not as a problem to be fixed. I believe that when people feel safe enough to be honest about what they are experiencing, therapy can become a powerful space for self-understanding, emotional healing and meaningful change.
I work with people experiencing relationship difficulties, communication problems, emotional disconnection, grief, bereavement, family concerns, life transitions, anxiety, low mood and feelings of being stuck or overwhelmed.
Taking the first step into counselling can feel daunting, especially if you are used to coping alone. My aim is to offer a space where you feel respected, supported and able to begin wherever you are.

How to work with Millie:
1. Make a list of issues you want to discuss, your goals and challenges
you feel as though you may come across in order to achieve those goals. It is
also beneficial to keep a journal so you are able to write down everything
that comes to your mind when in or out of the session.
2. Millie has a warm and friendly style, but she will challenge you, so it’s
important to be open and trust the process. Be prepared to sometimes feel
uncomfortable during sessions, however if you experience a strong
emotional reaction to something that has been said or done please
bring it up.
3. Therapy is all about change. Once the patterns that were previously
outside of awareness become conscious it becomes easier to understand
ourselves and others, it then allows you to
take action for change to happen.
4. Therapy can be meaningful and transformative, but it also requires
time, honesty and willingness. While outcomes cannot be guaranteed, a
committed and collaborative approach can create the conditions for deeper
self-understanding, emotional growth and lasting change.
5. If you decide to have therapy with Millie you also commit to attending
booked sessions, agreed between-session reflections or tasks and being
open to
challenge your thoughts and behaviours with an open mind.
6. Self-care plays an important role in supporting both emotional and
physical well-being. Sometimes, small and manageable changes in everyday
routines may gently support this balance. If Millie notices moments where
self-care may have been difficult to maintain, she may offer some
supportive suggestions.
Therapy is most effective when there is a shared commitment to
the process. I will support and challenge you, but meaningful
change also requires your willingness to reflect, engage and take
responsibility for your own growth.
