About me
The "gift of therapy", as Yalom names it, is a personal and sacred journey people may pursue at different stages of their lives for different reasons. Sometimes the bravest step is asking for help, and it strikes me that this step alone can mark a significant milestone in the psychological growth of many of my clients.
Since 2015, I have worked as a therapist in NHS primary and secondary care settings, as well as the private sectors in London and across the UK. This has given me the privilege to work with people of different paths of life and struggles from personal life, social, political and work demands. I have worked extensively using Cognitive Behaviour, Psychodynamic, Person Centred and Systemic/Group therapeutic approaches. I am also a visiting lecturer at City, University of London, something that encourages me to keep up to date with the developments in the field of Counselling Psychology.
In order to be of most help to my clients facing hostility and inequalities because of simply being who they are, I chose to research anti-discriminatory therapeutic practice during my doctorate studies. My pluralistic epistemology and Counselling Psychology training shape my notion that human beings are unique and multi-layered. As such, I believe that clients coming to therapy may benefit from different ways of working at different times. Accordingly, I place the uniqueness and holistic nature of my clients and their preferred ways of working above any generalised theory.
When working together, I will transparently explain to you different evidenced based therapeutic approaches and encourage you to reflectively choose which one or the integration of which may suit you at different times of our work together. Throughout our work, I will aim to create a safe space that can empower your voice to share your experiences freed from external expectations and norms.
The relational aspect of psychological counselling will aim to help you start relating to yourself, others and the world in a more helpful, meaningful and fulfilling to you way.
