About me

Hello, my name is Michael and I am an experienced and qualified counsellor/psychotherapist and member of the BACP. I am based in Worcester and I offer and I offer private therapy sessions for adults, young people and families on a long, medium or short-term basis.

You can expect a warm, confidential and welcoming space to discuss and explore your problems and difficulties safely, respectfully and importantly, at your own pace.

I offer an integrative approach to counselling which combines different therapeutic philosophies rather than using one specific approach. This will provide you with a counselling experience that best suits your individual needs.

Together we will consider what it is that you would like the next chapter of your life to look and feel like. We will explore, identify and seek to understand any unwanted patterns, themes and psychological blocks that may affect you in your everyday life and in reaching your goals.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) with Level 5 advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I have over 7 years experience of working in the field of psychotherapy and I run a private practice covering Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and the West Midlands.

I have extensive experience of working with attachment, anxiety, depression and low mood, loss of meaning, relationship difficulties, affairs and betrayals, family systems, trauma - working with the past, transgenerational trauma, working with shame and guilt, identity and work/life balance to name some. My specialisms can be fully viewed on my website: www.wearecounselling.com

I have over twenty years experience working systemically with adults, families and young people within social work and family support settings. My initial work in the field of psychotherapy focused on student and staff counselling. My private practice has enabled me to reach a wider demographic working increasingly more with adults as well as families and young people.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
