About me

My name is Mercedes, but everyone calls me Sadie. I know life can be stressful and sometimes it feels like it all becomes too much to deal with. I am passionate about helping you navigate through life's challenges and I believe in creating a safe and supportive space for you to explore your thoughts and emotions.

I am a person centred counsellor as my foundation, meaning I believe that you are the expert on your own life and I believe that the professional relationship between us is key. Much like any relationship in life, not everyone will be compatible, and you will get the most from your therapy journey, if you have a good working relationship with your counsellor. It is a collaborative relationship, and I like to work in a way which benefits each individual client, meaning I can use additional trainings I have done, to use creative interventions in addition to talking therapy, if that is what works for you.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Safe space for LGBTQIA+

I work with over 18's and offer online sessions, face to face sessions and walk and talk therapy/ ecotherapy. I offer concession prices for over 65's, students, NHS workers and those receiving Universal Credit.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have obtained a degree in Psychology from The University of Liverpool. I have a level 4 Diploma in Counselling through the CPCAB. Additionally, I have attended many additional trainings to enhance my ability to address a wide range of mental health issues, including but not limited to; Ecotherapy, Domestic Abuse Awareness, Trauma and PTSD, GSRD, working with eating disorders, and creative therapies.

I have experience working with domestic abuse organisations, young people under the care of the local authority and have spent time volunteering for local counselling CICs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
