About me

Hello, I'm May and I am a person-centred therapist and trauma-informed registered member of the BACP. I have a private practice in the centre of Manchester and offer face-to-face, telephone and online video sessions.

In addition to my private practice, I work at a charity in Altrincham, the Counselling and Family Centre which supports the community by providing counselling, training, support groups and community outreach.

I am a compassionate non-judgemental therapist and believe that everyone deserves to feel happy and healthy. I am dedicated to helping my clients reach their full potential and live fulfilling lives. I believe that everyone has the capacity to heal and grow and I am committed to providing a safe and supportive space for my clients to do this work. I tailor my approach to each individual clients needs and goals.

Whilst I trained as a person-centred practitioner, I work at a relational depth which means that I will draw upon differing modalities to meet your individual needs. No-one knows your inner world better than you, it's about you finding your inner resources to enable you to achieve your potential.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

The idea of starting therapy can be hard. To make this process as comfortable as possible we will have an initial call where you will have the opportunity to ask any questions about me or the counselling process and if you wish to proceed, we can arrange an initial assessment session at a time convenient to both of us.

Our initial session will be a 50-minute assessment in which we will discuss your needs and see if I am the right therapist for you.
