About me
Hello, I’m Matt, a professionally qualified counsellor based in the Newton Abbot area.
You may be here because something in life feels difficult right now. Perhaps you're experiencing anxiety, low mood, grief, relationship challenges, or a sense that you've lost connection with who you are. Sometimes we carry things for a long time before reaching out for support and taking this step can feel daunting.
If you're considering counselling, you're already showing courage and self-awareness.
I offer a calm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and explore whatever is on your mind, at your own pace.
I offer face-to-face counselling from a comfortable and welcoming counselling space in Paignton, as well as online sessions for those who prefer remote support.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches including Humanistic therapy, CBT, Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness and Existential therapy. This allows me to adapt how we work together so that therapy is tailored to you as an individual and your unique experiences.
At the heart of my work is the belief that meaningful change often begins within a safe and trusting relationship. My aim is to create a warm and collaborative environment where you feel truly heard, accepted and understood.
Life can sometimes leave us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about who we are and where we are going. We may find ourselves repeating patterns, struggling with difficult emotions, or feeling disconnected from our sense of purpose or identity.
Through counselling, we can gently explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences together. As understanding grows, many people begin to develop greater self-awareness and clarity about the patterns, beliefs and emotions shaping their lives.
With this deeper awareness, it becomes possible to approach life differently - creating space for healing, growth and more meaningful change.
Finding the right counsellor is important. For this reason, I offer a free 30-minute introductory conversation by phone or online. This gives us an opportunity to talk about what brings you to counselling and see whether working together feels like the right fit.
If you’d like to get in touch, please feel free to reach out. I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours.
