About me
I work as an integrative counsellor from my private practice in Exmouth.
My approach is relational and aims to enable a deeper personal awareness and understanding. I am trained to listen with a deep curiosity and empathy, to pay close attention to your experiences and to be alongside you as you begin your counselling journey.
It is my belief that counselling can help you live more fully, more openly and more freely.
I have always been drawn to others and I find much of life’s meaning comes to us through the relationships we share. In my professional life before becoming a therapist, I worked as a carer, a youth leader, a teaching assistant and then for many years as a child and family social worker. In addition to my private practice, I have offered counselling via a local charity since 2019 and have also extensively undertaken therapeutic work with people living with advanced dementia.
The term integrative therapy means that I practice in a way which brings together elements of specific therapies including:
- Attachment based therapy
- Relational therapy
- Mentallisation based therapy
- Somatic Mindfulness
- Internal Family Systems therapy
It is a hopeful, flexible approach which allows me to draw on a range of skills and knowledge to inform my practice.
My aim for our work together is to enable you to develop a clearer sense of yourself, your relationships and your circumstances. Using a compassionate and curious lens, our work will focus on the integration of your experiences to facilitate healing and wholeness.
I offer an initial session at no charge to you. Ensuring that we are the ‘right fit’ for each other is so important and this session is an opportunity for us to meet each other and get a sense of this. The first session would include a discussion about the focus of our work together and afterwards, we can make a decision about whether you wish to proceed with counselling.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and am a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).
I have over 25 years of experience working in the human professions and hold a BSc Applied Social Studies and a Social Work DipSW in addition to my counselling qualifications.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
