About me

You may be looking for support because life feels overwhelming, you feel stuck, or things simply don't feel quite right. Therapy offers a space where you can talk openly, make sense of your thoughts and feelings, and feel genuinely heard without judgement.

At the heart of counselling is a trusting relationship. My role is not to tell you what to do or offer quick fixes, but to provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore whatever feels important to you, at your own pace, and find a way forward that feels right for you.

I recognise that traditional room-based talking therapy does not suit everyone. Alongside counselling sessions, I also offer Equine Assisted Therapy, Animal Assisted Therapy and Walk and Talk Therapy, providing alternative ways to engage in the therapeutic process.

I work with adults and young people aged 13 and over, supporting a wide range of issues including ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), autism, trauma and PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), anxiety, depression, bereavement, health-related challenges, abuse, addictions, anger, relationship difficulties, childhood experiences and personal growth.

Whatever has brought you to therapy, you do not have to face it alone. Together, we can work towards greater understanding, self-acceptance and positive change.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a therapist I have worked in numerous settings including the NHS (Drug & Alcohol Team), Equine Assisted Therapy Practice, Private Practice, Sheltered Accommodation for Vulnerable Adults and more recently in an Alternative Education Provision working with neurodiverse young people and those who have experienced developmental trauma. Trauma Informed Principles underpin my whole practice.

My qualifications to date include:

  • Certificate in Counselling
  • Diploma in Person Centred Counselling
  • First Class BA Hons in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy
  • Equine Assisted Growth & Learning Association (EAGALA) Part 1 and 2 Training
  • Athena Herd Level 2 Certificate in Equine Facilitated Learning
  • Diploma in Animal Assisted Interventions

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

I offer a 30 minute initial assessment for therapy at a cost of £30 where we can explore what you are hoping to gain out of counselling and whether we feel comfortable working together. The number of sessions people require can vary greatly - I am able to offer short-term and long-term therapy. My sessions are 50 minutes and start at £65. Equine Therapy is £100. If it would be beneficial to attend a session/sessions with a family member/significant other then this can be accommodated but will incur an extra cost.
