About me

I am a qualified Person-Centred counsellor and I can offer you a safe, non-judgemental, accepting space where you will be deeply listened to and compassionately received, enabling you to move forward, whatever this means to you.

As a Person-Centred counsellor I do not analyse or diagnose what you are going through as you are the expert on your life. I will however gently challenge you to explore your own feelings and insights which can lead to new perspectives and feelings of validation.

Our relationship will be at the heart of your counselling experience and while I have counselled clients with a variety of issues; issues around being neurodiverse, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, eating disorders, bereavement and loss, guilt, shame and more, you and your experiences are unique, which means our time together will be uniquely focused on you.

I work with young people over 16, students, adults and older adults.

I have an accessible, quiet, comfortable room in the centre of Lancaster with free parking. Although if this does not fit with you, I also offer walking therapy and online sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully trained Person-Centred counsellor with a level 7 Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, which I studied at the University of Cumbria.

I have completed a Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People (Accredited CPD provided by SPC) and am happy to work with young people aged 16 and up.

I am an Accredited member of NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society). This means that I work to a recognised ethical framework, have monthly supervision, regularly update my professional development, comply with GDPR and am fully insured.

In my counselling work, I have worked with students, adults and older adults, including those from the LGBTQ+ community, who have come to me with a wide variety of issues related to childhood adversity, neurodiversity, relationships, bereavement and loss, eating disorders, anxiety, depression and low self-worth.

I have worked with adults and young people all my adult life; in children’s homes, with disabled young people and as a teacher for many years. My teaching career has enabled me to work with adults and young people from many different cultures, which has given me excellent communication skills and a depth of understanding for those whose language and or culture is different from the mainstream UK.
