Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist MBACP

About me

Welcome, I am a highly experienced mental health professional, with an accumulation of over 20 invaluable years working professionally delivering mental health services. I am a professionally qualified and licenced Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I specialise in working with adults, young people, couples, families and groups.

I understand that your experiences in life are unique to you as an individual, the challenges, pain, as well as your gifts you possess. I believe in the importance of focusing on how you are feeling on the inside. Giving you the space to release and discover.

Are you struggling in areas in your life at present that are causing you difficult and painful emotions? You may no longer feel fulfilment or enjoyment in your life based on life changes or simply very overwhelmed or trapped in difficult situations.

You may be feeling sad, depressed, isolated, lonely, confused, experiencing low self-esteem and/or suffering with anxiety and panic attacks. Or maybe you are struggling with other areas relating to relationships, family, work, trauma, abuse, neglect, addiction, loss or grief, health, discrimination, feeling bullied or feeling suicidal.

I work by providing you with a safe space, free from judgement focussed on only you, removing the views, opinions and judgement of others, where you can explore whatever is on your mind freely, share your thoughts and your feelings. I will support you in addressing any issues and concerns that have been affecting you in areas of your life that you may be finding difficult to process, by helping you to find greater ease in managing.

I have effectively worked with a diverse range of people, with an array of different needs and presenting issues, diagnosis, life challenges, traumas and experiences. Working within my private practice, NHS, UK charities, addiction services, gender specific and children and family services. Working both within the UK and internationally.

I use an integrative approach, working relationally, trained in person centred/humanistic, psychodynamic, CBT and solution focussed therapy. This gives me the freedom to be flexible and allows me to use a fusion of varied therapeutic tools and techniques to suit your individual needs.

Working together on the areas that are having a significant impact on your mental and emotional wellbeing, I will work in supporting you to gain understanding and learn new coping skills to deal with the issues that may have been holding you back and placing limits on your life. And developing healthier ways to connect and communicate with others and reconnect with who you really are! Working together on the areas that are having a significant impact on your mental and emotional wellbeing.

Couple’s and Relationship Therapy

I also work with couples and relationships, offering an integrative approach focusing on understanding the roots of long-standing issues to enable lasting change. I work with heterosexual, same sex couples, monogamous, polyamorous and open. I support those experiencing relationship and psychosexual difficulties, which may stem from past problems or more recent changes.

My aim is to support you in gaining a deeper awareness of the conscious and unconscious relationship dynamics which will help you to create a better understanding and enable partners to relate to each other in a healthier way.

Relationships outside of romantic dynamics are also faced with challenges and can face significant strain. This may be with a relative, parent, a sibling, friend or colleague. I provide a compassionate, neutral, non-judgmental space for growth, understanding, and connection. I aim to support to navigate through your challenges, help restore trust, improve communication, and foster a deeper understanding of one another.

I support and welcome clients who are neurodiverse diagnosed as well as undiagnosed, including ADHD, Autism /Autism Spectrum, ASD.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
