Addiction Specialist

About me

I'm currently expanding my practice and have spaces available.

I work with clients from all ethnicities and sexualities, with a huge variety of presenting issues, but I specialise in helping addicts in recovery or in active addiction in person or online.  I have been on my own journey with addiction & have the lived & professional experience to be able to help you - if you are ready to help yourself.

I will help you better understand your present by exploring your past, reconnect with your sense of self and empower you to step with intention into the life you want to live now. I'll help you to recognise patterns in your behaviour that don't have to remain fixed. We can change our lives, but we must change our belief system first.

We are all individuals and my approach is to see you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms. I focus on your lived experience, not simply the label or issue you may be experiencing. Every part of your life matters - it all contributes to the story of who you are and where you find yourself now.

While I may have training and qualifications, I don't see myself as above you - we meet as equals in the therapeutic space that we create. My role is to support, not to judge - I bring my lived experience and professional skills to help me understand you and in so doing help you to better understand and connect with yourself.

Ultimately, what we all seek is self-love and self-acceptance and I will be there to support you every step of the way on your journey.

Just as I am committed to helping you, I like to work with people who are committed to personal enquiry and growth and who are reliable and prepared to do some inner work between sessions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been working as a counsellor for a number of years now. I have a level 4 professional Diploma in Gestalt counselling recognised & endorsed by BACP. I am a member of BACP & adhere to their ethical guidelines.

I’m committed to ethical, client-centred practice. I work with clients from all ethnicities and sexualities, with a huge variety of presenting issues, but I specialise in helping addicts in recovery. I am passionate and committed to supporting individuals through emotional, psychological and behavioural challenges.

Not just a therapist...

I'm a qualified Reiki practitioner which I can bring to our work to help heal your energy if required.

I run monthly men's group meetings to support men through all of life's complex challenges.

I run nature connection retreats to help enrich and deepen a sense of self within the wider context of the natural world.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
