About me

It can be difficult to ask for help when the problem isn’t clear to you. Maybe you became so used to taking care of everyone else that you struggle to know what it is you actually want anymore?  Together we can make sense of what you are going through and find a way forward that feels genuine to you.

Negative thoughts and worries can lead to overwhelm, leaving us feeling detached from who we really are, and what we want.  The therapy I offer is focussed on helping you to deepen your understanding of yourself and to get back in touch with what really serves you.  This could mean exploring how experiences from the past have influenced your feelings and behaviours, or it could mean finding a way through a current situation that feels unmanageable.  Whatever your needs, I will ensure that I will listen with compassion to what is important to you.  My role is to understand, offer empathy and at times provide gentle challenge, but I will never judge you or tell you what to do.

I have experience working with a wide variety of presenting challenges and welcome adult clients with whatever they are going through.  I do have some areas of interest which appear as common themes in my work, these are: self-esteem and boundaries, addictions and problem drinking, and living with neurodiversity.  I have been as a counsellor in an NHS addiction service and worked with several local charities.  I also have experience of life within the Armed Forces community.

I offer a free initial consultation by phone, which gives us an opportunity to explore your needs and for you to get a sense of what it would be like for us to work together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
