About me
I am Lucy Wren, a counsellor working in Leith, Edinburgh. I see clients in person at my practice in Leith, and online for people elsewhere in Scotland and the UK.
People come to counselling for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes there is a clear problem: anxiety that has taken over, a loss you are still carrying, a relationship that has become hard work, stress that will not let up. Sometimes it is vaguer than that, just a sense that things are not right and you would like somewhere to think out loud. Both are good enough reasons to get in touch.
My approach is pluralistic, which in practice means I do not apply one method to everybody. I draw on person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural and transactional analysis ways of working, and we find between us what is useful for you. Some people want space to talk and be heard. Others want something more structured and practical. We can start in one place and move.
Sessions usually happen weekly, at the same time each week. How many you have is up to you. Some people come for a handful of sessions with something specific in mind, others stay longer. There is no minimum commitment and no expectation that you keep going once it has stopped being useful.
What you bring stays confidential, within the limits I will explain clearly at the start.
If you are not sure whether counselling is right for you, or whether I am the right counsellor, I offer a free 15-minute introductory chat. No pressure and no obligation to book anything afterwards. It is simply a chance to ask questions and get a feel for how we might work together.
