About me

If you are looking to start therapy then chances are that you are feeling a little lost in your life right now.  Perhaps you have lost yourself and are trying to find the person you once were?  Or maybe you have lost a loved one and are struggling with the feelings of grief.

Are you overwhelmed with a past trauma, anxiety, loneliness or just confused about what life is and how to move forward?

Maybe you are grieving for your relationship, or the partner you once knew.  Perhaps you are struggling to communicate with one another and need some help to point out behavioural patterns and ways to communicate effectively.  Whatever it is that has brought you to this point, let me help you.

I am a warm, genuine and kind person who has a natural empathic nature and a passion for therapy and people.  I have a depth of compassion that will help you to feel truly heard and meet the needs that perhaps have gone unmet for a long time.  I work relationally and intuitively with each of my clients, which means I tailor our sessions to perfectly cater for each individuals or couples' specific needs.

I can be challenging and at times straight talking, but I do so respectfully and with kindness, as I believe, if you are here then you are hoping to create a change in your life; you might just need a little gentle direction on to the right path to implement these changes.

While our focus will be on the "Here and Now" within our sessions, we will also explore how your past, influences from parents or care givers have shaped you and led you to this point.

As an Accredited Member of the BACP, I bring extensive experience in addressing a wide range of challenges, just a few of which include anxiety, depression, bereavement, relational issues, sexual abuse and self esteem concerns.  My goal is to support you in overcoming these obstacles and moving forward with confidence to help you find yourself in the most authentic way.

My integrative approach combines psychodynamic therapy with relational techniques alongside the tools of EMDR therapy.  These ways of working allow me to tailor my methods and use a wealth of therapeutic interventions to meet your unique needs and pace, whether you are seeking individual sessions or couples therapy.

Through my therapeutic service (Finding Me Therapy), my clients benefit from a confidential, trusting, therapeutic relationship. Together, we will uncover the authentic version of yourself, the you that you have been searching for.

What Next?
If you would like to book a free 30 minute initial consultation, please feel free to email or call me, so we can discuss how to move forward. *Please note that couples consultations are chargeable and will take a full 60 minutes.

Training, qualifications & experience

BACKGROUND

I was trained as an Integrative Therapist studying a combination of Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, before taking up employment as a counsellor for a local psychodynamic counselling charity.

It was here that I honed my skills and developed my own sense of being, through the teachings of many experienced and supportive role models that I was able to learn from.

Over time and with years of experience, I feel that I have developed my own unique way of working with clients and couples', incorporating a blend of the modalities and with a natural leaning towards Psychodynamic Therapy.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
