About me
About Me
Hi, I’m Lucy — a BACP-registered counsellor and psychotherapist based in the foothills of the Black Mountains. I work with adults experiencing a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, loss and bereavement, family issues, stress, and trauma.
I aim to offer a warm, thoughtful, and non-judgemental space where you can speak openly and feel genuinely heard. Working relationally, I place importance on building a safe, trusting, and authentic therapeutic relationship where we can explore your experiences together at your own pace. Therapy is not about being “fixed”, but about understanding yourself more fully, finding new ways forward, and feeling more able to meet life as it is.
I work with people from many different backgrounds, identities, and life experiences. I am committed to offering a welcoming, affirming space for all clients, including neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ people.
Where We Can Work Together
Sessions are available in several settings, depending on what feels most comfortable and supportive for you:
A peaceful cabin space in Talgarth, Powys
A therapy room in the centre of Hereford, close to cafés and local amenities
Online sessions from wherever feels safe and convenient
Walk-and-talk sessions outdoors in nature
If you are interested in walk-and-talk therapy, I usually recommend beginning with a couple of indoor or online sessions first, so we can establish what you would like from the counselling process and build a sense of connection together.
How I Work
My approach is integrative, which means I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on your individual needs and what feels most helpful within the session. I value flexibility in therapy, as no two people experience life in exactly the same way.
Above all, I believe the therapeutic relationship itself is central to meaningful change. Feeling safe, understood, and able to be yourself within therapy matters deeply, which is why I offer a free 20-minute initial conversation. This gives us a chance to see whether working together feels like the right fit for you.
What Informs My Work
Psychodynamic Therapy
Being psychodynamically informed means we may explore how past experiences and relationships continue to shape present feelings, behaviours, and ways of relating.
Existential Therapy
An existential perspective invites reflection on meaning, identity, freedom, uncertainty, and our place in the world, helping us engage more deeply with the realities of being human.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Where appropriate, I may integrate elements of CBT to explore the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, particularly when certain patterns feel difficult or limiting.
This may include practical tools such as:
Thought records — identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns
Behavioural experiments — gently testing beliefs through lived experience
Self-compassion exercises — developing a kinder and more supportive inner voice
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a postgraduate diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of South Wales, a model that blends humanistic, psychodynamic, relational, and cognitive behavioural therapies.
As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, I adhere strictly to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I also hold an enhanced DBS certificate, full indemnity insurance, and receive regular supervision as part of my professional and personal development.
Specific qualifications:
- Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (Level 7) University of South Wales
- Certificate in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy University of South Wales

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
