(MBACP) Psychodynamic Counsellor

About me

I’m a qualified psychodynamic counsellor offering therapy to adults, both in person in Southampton, Hampshire, and online across the UK. I’m registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in line with their Ethical Framework.

I’ve worked with people from many walks of life, each bringing their own experiences, challenges, complexities, and hopes.

People come to me for many reasons. Some feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves. Others notice familiar patterns repeating in relationships, or have a sense that something needs attention even if they can’t yet put it into words. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin, curiosity, uncertainty, or a wish to understand yourself more deeply is enough.

How I Work

My work is psychodynamic and relational. Rather than giving advice or ready-made answers, I aim to create a relationship where you can feel deeply heard and understood. Through this process, clarity and confidence can emerge gradually, allowing change to feel real and sustainable.

This way of working creates space for a deeper understanding of yourself to develop over time, supporting change that feels grounded rather than forced.

You set the pace, and I’ll walk alongside you, staying attentive to what feels true for you.

Is Therapy Right for Me?

Therapy isn’t about finding labels or working out “what’s wrong with you.”

Instead, it’s a process of exploring what you’ve lived through, and how those experiences have shaped the way you cope, connect, and move through the world.

Sometimes the beginning is simply saying, “I don’t want to carry this alone anymore.” And the first step is simply being heard.

Let’s See If We’re a Good Fit

If you’re curious about working together and would like to explore whether therapy might be helpful for you, you’re welcome to get in touch.

I welcome clients who are new to therapy as well as those returning to it.

I offer a brief no fee phone call for prospective clients who would like to ask questions or get a sense of whether working together feels right. This isn’t a therapy session, just space to think together about what you’re looking for. If you'd like to book a call, you can do so using the button at the top of this page or you're welcome to contact me by email or phone: 07734930088, and I’ll respond within 48 hours.

My Location

I work from a quiet, private consulting room in West End, Hampshire, within easy reach of Southampton Airport Parkway and the M27.

There is both on-street and off-street parking available, and there are no stairs to access the room.

I also offer online therapy for clients anywhere in the UK.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling and am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), working in line with their Ethical Framework.

I have several years’ experience working within a charitable counselling service, offering both short-term and open-ended therapy to adults from a wide range of backgrounds. This work involved supporting people through complex emotional difficulties, life transitions, and relational challenges within a professional and ethical setting.

Alongside my clinical work, I engage in regular supervision and ongoing professional development, which supports reflective, responsible practice and continued learning.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
