About me

I'm Lorraine an experienced qualified Accredited Counsellor , Psychotherapist, Supervisor, CBT and an Accredited EMDR Europe Practitioner.

I am also an Approved Adoption Counsellor by Barnado's LINK.

I offer a friendly, safe and confidential service for people across Essex.

Anger, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship problems are just a few of the issues which I cover.

I have practices in both Benfleet and Southend-on-Sea making it accessible for clients from many locations across Essex.

I have experience in counselling people from the ages of 5 to 85, male, female, individuals, couples and families.

I feel that seeking counselling isn't a sign of weakness it's a sign of STRENGTH. It shows that you are unhappy with your life at the moment and that you are ready for CHANGE.

It's a step in the right direction. I am here for YOU to LISTEN and HELP you find the ANSWERS.

One of the hardest things is making that first phone call, I understand how difficult it is but once that call has been made it shows a sign that your inner strength is helping you through.

I cannot tell you what to do do or give you advice but I can help you explore your own thoughts and feelings and develop skills that will help you now and in the future. I will help and support you in finding your own insights and ways of working through your difficulties.

Counselling can help with confidence, communication, assertiveness and anger problems. It can help you to look at things from another perspective.

I am fully insured, a accredited member of The National Counselling Society and a registered member of the BACP of whom which I hold a certificate of proficiency. I also hold an enhanced
DBS certificate for working with children.

I am committed to on-going professional development and regularly attend courses to enhance my knowledge and keep up-to-date with today’s approaches.

What happens...

Firstly an assessment appointment is made, either by email, text or telephone, which ever is more convenient for you.

At the assessment we will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and what expectations you have and what goals you wish to achieve.

We will also establish whether we feel comfortable working with each other, I will explain to you how I work and set the boundaries.

We will work together to help you find the root of the issues in which you are experiencing, confront them and move forward into a new more satisfying lifestyle, whilst offering a safe environment for you to explore the issues that are affecting your life.

Therapy Approach

I work integratively. This means that I'm able to use a wide range of counselling approaches, which will enable me to assess your needs and offer a unique service to each individual.

I use CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), TA (Transactional Analysis), SFBT (Solution Focussed Brief Therapy) Person Centred, Pyschodynamic and EMDR (Eye Movemement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

People seek counselling for many types of reasons but they all have one thing in common and that is they are unhappy with the way their lives are and want to change it.

Change can be difficult and can bring up a whole wealth of emotions. I'm here to support you through that journey.

You will be able to discover new skills which you never knew you had.

Seeking counselling is a positive step in the right direction,
