About me
I’m an Integrative Counsellor meaning I draw upon different modalities with the focus always being on you as an individual.
I work with lots of areas including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, parenting challenges, loss & bereavement, OCD, self-harm, trauma & abuse.
Examples of situations I can help with: maybe you're struggling with a challenging relationship or finding it hard to move on after a painful breakout? Perhaps you have chronic pain that has no medical explanation and are struggling to cope with this. Maybe you're finding a life transition difficult to deal with eg. menopause, children leaving home, retirement?
Together we can explore your feelings and experience to gain insight into what’s negatively affecting your life today. We may link this to your past, which will help you understand why you behave or think the way you do and as you start to make sense of your inner world you will experience a greater sense of wellbeing.
The therapeutic relationship between us is essential for effective counselling which is why I focus on creating a safe, confidential and open environment so that you feel comfortable. I believe that trust, empathy and acceptance are crucial for successful therapy.
If any of this resonates with you, please drop me a line. Text, email, phone - whichever is easier for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and am continually training and developing my knowledge with the aim to provide an up to date service for my clients.
My own experience of counselling started 10 years ago when I was suffering with post-natal depression and anxiety. Therapy helped me to explore these difficult feelings and shine a light on maladaptive behaviours that I had learnt in my earlier years that were no longer serving me. With this awareness I was able to make sense of what I was experiencing which enabled me to make different choices and set healthier boundaries. I can honestly say that my counselling experience changed the path of my life for the better which is why I believe so strongly in the power of talking therapy.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
As a counsellor, my aim is to offer a safe and confidential space to talk freely and openly without judgement. The therapy room is a place to explore difficult feelings and painful emotions which can help you to make sense of your internal world, leading to positive growth and increased self-awareness. Together we will explore your past to gain insight into what’s negatively affecting your life today. This will shine a light on why you behave or think the way you do. I won’t give advice but depending on you, we can come up with strategies together on how to deal with difficult thoughts and feelings which will ultimately lead to an improvement in your feelings of wellbeing.
You may have a specific issue that you'd like to talk about or you may feel you need some help but aren't sure what's wrong. Therapy is a place where you can explore your feelings, wherever they come from, in a safe space with no judgement.
I’m a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and am bound by their Ethical Framework for counselling professionals. I attend regular supervision to support professional practice and comply with BACP requirements. I hold professional indemnity insurance and an enhanced DBS Certificate.
I work from Danbury in Essex but can also offer online sessions within the UK.
