About me

If you could think your way out of a struggle you would have done so by now - mental health affects us all at different times and in different ways.  Sometimes it's a big burden we carry and others times it can feel more like being a bit off, unsettled, perhaps you can't put your finger on it.

I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor and Supervisor, supervising other therapists also director of a well-being centre locally.  I have 10 years experience in supporting clients through all kinds of difficulties. Integrative means I have trained in a range of different models which work alongside each other. I spent several years learning my craft in an agency setting before setting up in private practise.

We are all different and therefore each client requires a bespoke service. I will take my time to get to know you and work with you.

Through personal and professional experiences I am aware that we often find it difficult to create a space for ourselves in our busy lives where we can begin to discover what is and isn't working for us and who we truly are or would like to be. This means that we are often working from old patterns of relating which are not relevant to the current situation.  We can find ourselves repeating patterns of behaviour as we haven't allowed ourselves the time to work through them. We may have certain triggers which can leave us with difficult feelings. I can help you explore these patterns and triggers and work towards a more honest way of relating that feels more acceptable to you, personal growth.

I promote mental health and well being by using a variety of evidenced based approaches in my work, depending on what works for you. I aim to provide a safe space where I can support you on your journey. Often looking inwardly can be frightening and embarrassing, provoking feelings of shame. The counselling is without judgement, bias or prejudice. Mental health is something which affects all of us, it's ok to not be ok.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
