About me

Hello, my name is Lisa and I run Hopfield Counselling.

I am a BACP Accredited Integrative Therapist which means that I work in a way that is individual to you, not in a prescriptive, pre-meditated way but in a way that lets me utilise my skills and experience to work with you to face life challenges.

I have also undergone training to enable me to utilise Hypnotherapy within my work as a therapist adding another layer to the work we can do together.

In addition to this I have also undertaken specialist training in understanding Menopause and how it impacts a woman’s life  I am a qualified Menopause Well-being practitioner.

I offer both short and long term counselling for adults, adolescents and children working from a light and airy garden room. My practice offers a safe space to explore what's troubling your life as many of us at some stage can feel stressed, anxious, confused, isolated, angry or alone.

Having someone impartial to really listen and walk in your world with you can give you the space and time to get some perspective and understanding. It can provide you with the time to investigate what is troubling your life at the moment and assist you to look for new ways to manage those difficulties. As counselling is not a directive process we work together to find new ways of coping and make life changes.

I have also undergone training to work with couples, investigating what is happening within relationships, establish what the difficulties may be, providing both people in the relationship with the chance to communicate and be heard in a non-judgemental and safe environment.

I am proud to work as a counsellor in the charitable sector. I work for The Matthew Hackney Foundation which is a local charity providing counselling services to local primary and secondary schools.  I work with children and teenagers covering a variety of issues in a school environment helping them to overcome anxiety, depression, self harm, stress and the like.

I am privileged to also work as a Counsellor for Woking & Sam Beare Hospice where I am a therapist for both life limited patients as well as families of the bereaved. In addition to being a one to one counsellor I have also run Footsteps, a bereavement group for children aged 5 to 12 years.

My practice is based in Byfleet and offers free on-street parking,  It is easily accessible from Woking, Weybridge, Addlestone, New Haw, West Byfleet and is within a 15-20 minute walk of both West Byfleet and Byfleet and New Haw railway station.

I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Supervision and am able to offer supervisory sessions.

As an accredited therapist I am also able to offer counselling to students undertaking their counselling qualifications and offer discounted rates for this.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
