About me
Hello, my name is Lisa. Welcome to my profile!
I am a qualified, experienced, effective counsellor offering sessions to individuals over the age of 18 years.
If you’re feeling stressed or burnt out, if your worries are keeping you awake at night or if you feel sad and lonely and your relationships are failing; whether you just feel lost and you cannot make decisions, therapy can really help. Life can be a real struggle sometimes; facing up to that and reaching out for help is the first step in your recovery. It's not always easy to ask for help, but please don't be afraid to get in touch - you don’t need to have everything figured out already. I am very approachable and will always aim to respond within 24 hours, or sooner if possible.
I will offer a supportive and confidential space where together we can explore what is going on for you. I approach therapy with a blend of honesty, openness and support - I won’t just sit back and nod, I’ll offer you a frank, yet kind approach that is tailored to you and goes at your own pace.
I work in a safe, trauma-informed way and provide a welcoming space for all clients. I work with the LGBTQIA+ community and embrace difference and diversity in my practice.
I have six years experience of working with those who have been affected by sexual and/or domestic abuse and I am passionate about helping you if you are struggling to come to terms with the impact this has. This work has given me a real insight and interest in relationship problems and challenges.
As a type one diabetic, I also have a special interest in helping people who manage a life-long condition. I understand the toll this can take and how it weaves into every part of your life. My practice is neurodiversity affirming and I welcome clients who live with the experience of feeling different in some way, understanding this from personal family experience as well as formal training.
My initial training was humanistic which means that I work with the belief that you are the expert on yourself and therefore I respect your thoughts and feelings. Everything you experience is valid and I will not judge you.
I work face to face in three locations: counselling rooms on Goldsmith Avenue in Portsmouth, in central Petersfield and also in a beautiful countryside setting in Hambledon. I work online with many clients – this has been found to be equally as effective as face-to-face counselling.
The search for a counsellor can be overwhelming, which is why I offer a free 20 minute introductory call to all potential clients. This gives us an opportunity to get to know each other a little to see if we might be suited to working together.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
