About me
Most of us experience times where we feel stuck and unhappy. Sometimes the challenges in life are just a bit too much , a private space and someone you can connect with can be a huge help to work out what you need and experiment with different ways in which you might go about getting it.
I am an accredited Psychotherapist experienced in supporting people with a number of difficulties including anxiety, stress, phobias, depression, sexual and physical trauma, bereavement and grief. As a relationship therapist I have been able to facilitate real changes for people in their long term relationships, intimate and family, sometimes after many years of frustration and distress. I am also a qualified physiotherapist working well supporting people who are adjusting to injury or illness and those living with pain and fatigue.
I offer online and in person sessions, I can work weekly or fortnightly with clients as individuals or couples. I am always happy to have an initial informal session with clients to see if we are a 'good enough fit' before any commitment to therapy is made.
Training, qualifications & experience
I came into the workplace as a young physiotherapist with a special interest in pain and long term conditions, I specialised in Neurology and Long Term rehabilitation and spent many years loving my work in the NHS and specialist services.
Gradually as I gained experience in these fields I recognised the strong relationship between the body and the brain and how fundamental social support and care was to the wellbeing of people so I started to learn more about these emotional, behavioural and social aspects of life.
I completed a certificate and then a diploma in Relationship Therapy and worked for many years with a national relationship therapy organisation. My excellent training in attachment theory and relationship therapy provided me with the basic skills required to support people who had been harmed in their younger lives, often within their families. I started to work with an organisation supporting people who have experienced abuse as children in 2012 and remain there , currently holding the post of Clinical Lead Therapist . I also have experience working with people who underwent assault and abuse as adults. This is often longer term therapy that can have life changing results for clients and is incredibly rewarding.
I completed a Post Grad Diploma ( level 11) in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in 2018 and since then have continued to develop my learning in a number of different approaches particularly leaning into Compassion Focussed Therapy and EMDR. I take my ongoing professional development very seriously however i am regularly 'taught' through the example of my resilient, resourceful , insightful , often humourous clients who model what working hard to be better looks like.
