About me

Welcome, and thank you for choosing to find out more about the counselling service I offer.

I deeply respect the courage it takes to seek support and engage in the therapeutic process, which is why, as a counsellor, my warm approach is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and a respect for each individual’s unique experiences.

You are at the centre of the therapeutic work we do together, and I believe that the counselling journey is a partnership between us both, where my role is to provide you with a safe, supportive and confidential space for gentle exploration, healing, and growth.

Life’s challenges can sometimes feel completely overwhelming, and I provide a space for you to explore this at your own pace, free from judgments, criticism or expectations. As a person centred integrative therapist, I’m here to listen and support you in our sessions together.

If you have a specific goal in mind, I’m able to integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness techniques, and other effective evidenced-based therapeutic strategies delivered in a humanistic way, should you prefer a more directive approach.

Creating a Safe and Supportive Space

As a registered member of the BACP, I work ethically to prioritise creating an environment where you can feel safe, listened to, and understood. This means fostering an atmosphere of acceptance and empathy, where there’s absolutely no judgement, no criticisms, or pressure to “fix” things overnight. Instead, we work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you, finding your balance and holding space for emotions, vulnerabilities, and triumphs.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a qualified person-centred counsellor and member of the BACP, I currently run Private Practice, and hold an extended DBS. My experience includes working with adults, young adults, teens, and children in private practice and supporting charities such as Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid, CASY and Place2Be.

I work with a person centred and integrative approach, side-by-side with clients, who wish to access counselling for various concerns that are impacting their everyday life and well-being, such as; life transitions, anxiety, depression, low mood, low self-esteem, hormone imbalance, menopause, hysterectomy, chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, trauma (PTSD/C-PTSD specialist training), bereavement/grief, loss, postpartum depression, and childhood trauma; please see the extended list below.

This means I’m able to creatively integrate therapeutic counselling with CBT and other humanistic modalities, that work alongside clients wishing to explore various challenges that are impacting their everyday life and well-being, such as; work-related stress, panic attacks, anger, frustration, sleep issues, overwhelm, sadness, health worries, and confidence.

I am also experienced in supporting neurodivergent clients, with different and complex co-existing neurodivergence, including; Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Whether previously diagnosed or perhaps considering a diagnosis and would like to explore this further, I recognise and deeply respect the individual unique qualities of neurodivergence. I know the difference counselling can make which comes from both personal and professional experience.

For younger people wanting to access counselling, I have experience working with children, teens and young adults aged between 5-18yrs of age, in both Primary and Comprehensive School settings with Place2Be and CASY. I create a safe and accepting space for them to feel truly heard, without judgement, in their own time, with what they feel comfortable sharing.

The professional development I continually undertake is a comprehensive list that serves directly in my client work, which is why CPD (Continuing Professional Development) is important to my practice. As well as being a qualified counsellor, additional areas of study and qualifications include (but are not limited to):

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Diploma
  • Trauma & PTSD
  • Somatic Trauma Therapy
  • Safeguarding Children & Adults
  • Anxiety & Depression

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
