About me

Life can become confusing quickly. One moment everything feels steady and familiar, and the next, something shifts. Suddenly the ground beneath you feels unsteady, and what once made sense no longer does. Sometimes nothing specific has happened at all — the feelings you’re carrying may have been with you for a long time, waiting to be understood.

My name is Laura, and I’m here to support you through those moments. I understand the feelings you can name, and the ones you can’t. Reaching out for counselling is a strong and courageous first step. It’s the beginning of turning uncertainty into stability, easing the emotions that take up so much space, and slowly moving from darker days into lighter ones.

As an integrative counsellor, I won’t give advice or tell you what to do. Instead, I’ll walk alongside you. Together, we’ll explore what’s happening in your world, at your pace, in a space that is empathic, safe, and free from judgement. You can set goals, review your progress, and choose what feels right. I offer open-ended sessions as well as shorter therapy options of 8, 12, or 20 weeks.

I work in different ways to suit your needs:

Talking therapy to explore thoughts and emotions safely.
Creative work for deeper insight when words are hard to find.
Somatic work to understand how stress and trauma live in the body and learn grounding techniques that bring calm and release.
Sessions are available face-to-face, online, or by telephone — whatever feels most comfortable for you.

I offer a free 20-minute introductory session via phone or Google Meet, giving you space to ask questions and get a sense of whether I’m the right counsellor for you. I also provide low-cost counselling (subject to evidence and review) to help make therapy accessible.

Whether this is for you or someone you care about, you don’t have to face things alone. Take the first step — and together, we’ll move toward steadier, brighter days.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor based in Bedfordshire, fully insured and a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I am also a Level 5 Trauma-Informed Counsellor and hold a Level 4 Counselling qualification.

I have extensive experience working with a wide range of mental health presentations, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, borderline personality disorder (BPD), trauma, PTSD, and supporting both adolescents and adults. I also specialise in areas including disordered eating, childhood trauma, domestic abuse, narcissistic abuse, the mother-daughter dynamic, the experiences of women, and supporting individuals with SEND.

My approach is integrative and tailored to each client’s needs. I work primarily through talking therapy, but I also incorporate creative techniques when appropriate, allowing clients to explore their emotions and experiences in a way that feels most comfortable and effective for them. Therapy is a personal journey, and I adapt my methods to suit your preferences and goals.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Testimonials from clients.

"The talking therapy provided during a particularly challenging time has empowered me to cultivate self-love and find my way forward. This process has allowed me to begin my healing journey and one of my only regrets is that I did not seek counselling sooner; it has proven to be immensely beneficial for me. My counsellor was exceptional and I was able to establish a strong rapport with them".

"I can't express how grateful I am to Laura for supporting me over the last 6 months - nor can I properly express how beneficial the counselling and support has been. If I tried - I would say that Laura has been one of the most supportive, objective, empathetic counsellors I have ever had the privilege to work with. She has a true gift / talent to be able to relate and connect to a stranger over a phone and have such a profound impact on someone else's life and I wish her future success".

"I just wanted to thank you for all your help, I'm going to miss our chats. But I feel much stronger now and I'm looking forward to the future".
