About me

Thank you for taking a look at my profile. I am a highly qualified, BACP registered and experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor, educated with a Master’s degree from the University of Cambridge in Psychotherapeutic counselling. I use an integrative approach, which means that I can draw from different types of therapeutic theory to fit with your individual needs, rather than trying to fit you to the theory! I provide a safe, comfortable, non-judgmental space, where you or your child can explore thoughts and feelings to begin to process difficulties that you might be having.

As well as working with adults, I also specialise in working with children, adolescents and their families. I have a lovely calm space in the south of Norfolk, where you can begin to explore and process any difficulties that you have at your own pace. With over 20 years of experience working therapeutically with adults, children, young people and their families in all settings, I often use play and creative arts therapies alongside talking to support children to express and explore what is happening with, to and for them. I have extensive experience in working with Trauma, abuse, neurodiversity, such as ADHD and Autism, dyslexia, Anxiety, Bereavement, Child related issues, Depression, Loss, Self esteem. I can also support with parenting, Parent child relationships and whole families.

For me it is important that everyone feels that they are able to be their authentic self, and the master of their own lives, but sometimes we need a bit of help and reflection to achieve this and I hope to work alongside you and your family to get there.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma and and Masters qualification in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. My specialism is working with children and young people, I find that young people often need a person outside of their family where they feel understood and can work through some of their feelings. Some of the difficulties are that they may have experienced trauma, bullying, difficulties with school, bereavement, anxiety, low mood and self-harm.

My specialised training from the university of Cambridge enables me to create a safe and nurturing space where children and adolescents can explore their feelings and experiences using various therapeutic techniques, including creative therapies such as play, sand and art. I'm dedicated to helping them build resilience and develop essential emotional skills that will help them to find more appropriate coping skills in the future.

In addition, I also work with parents and their children together. Parent-child therapy or whole family therapy can be useful if there have been difficulties with attachment, a family break up, parent-child conflict, family bereavement or trauma. I have trained in functional family therapy, dyadic developmental psychotherapy, Mentalisation based therapy and Theraplay, all of which are therapeutic interventions which can help families better understand and communicate with each other, resulting in better calmer, relationships.

I have extensive experience working within social care, schools, foster care and both individually and groups. I have also been part of the critical incident team within Norfolk county council, who support schools when there has been a death of a pupil or staff member for more than a decade.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
