About me
Like many I have a good understanding of how life may become too much, emotions may feel overwhelming and we do not know which way to turn. This may feel unsettling and sometimes we feel lost. Sometimes an ear is all we need, a safe and confidential space offering acceptance, allowing us to process and heal.
Deciding to start therapy can be a daunting idea and I appreciate finding the right counsellor can be overwhelming. Within our work it's my belief that the counselling relationship is key, and I look to provide a warm and accepting environment, whereby you feel seen and heard. At the start of your journey we will look to build the trust between us and explore what makes a safe environment for you. We will work collaboratively exploring what brings you to counselling, managing your expectations and any goals you might have. I believe in your autonomy and encourage feedback throughout the process about how you feel this is going. There is no time limit to the number of sessions you might have, and we'll be working at your own pace.
To help you get to know before we start, I offer a free 15 minute upfront Telephone or Online Consultation. There is an opportunity to ask initial questions and have a general feel if you’d like to work together.
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm a qualified Integrative Counsellor. You might be thinking what does this mean...I believe everyone is unique in their journey and how they experience life. Being an Integrative counsellor means I can work in a variety of ways, enabling me to adapt to what best suits you as an individual.
There is an invitation to work creatively during our sessions, however I appreciate that this may not be for everyone and there is no obligation to do so. I have found working this way has been beneficial to me personally, enabling me to work at a deeper level, find new ways of expression and connect with my inner child. You might consider this way of working as it helps access another part of your brain, giving access to the unconscious. It also creates a visual aid, helping to process feelings in another medium. You may find this method playful and in some cases, like anxiety, therapeutic.
Throughout my background I have found myself in helping roles and seek connections with others. I've been involved in charities and offered counselling services within school settings.
I've worked with both young people and adults ranging with variety of areas including anxiety, anxiety disorder, panic attacks, depression, trauma, grief and victims of narcissistic abuse. I've also had the opportunity to support those are neurodiverse including ADHD and Autism.
More recently I've qualified in becoming a group facilitator and offer group work within schools and community, with an aim to offer something both creative and therapeutic for those are are struggling with anxiety, low self esteem and general overwhelm.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
