About me

Hello, I am Kelly, a Chartered Counselling Psychologist specialising in CBT and EMDR. I am highly qualified and skilled with over 15 years of experience in helping adults overcome the difficulties holding them back, developing helpful ways of coping and creating the life they want.

I help people heal from trauma and change unhelpful patterns and beliefs so you can feel calmer and more confident, reach your goals, improve your relationships and live a more fulfilling life. I will support you to understand why you feel the way you do and to actually move forward, not just make sense of things.

I have a wealth of experience working in NHS and private settings, integrating a range of different therapies. I can provide long- and short-term evidence based therapy in a safe, confidential space for you to explore your difficulties and make the changes you wish to make. I strongly believe that every individual is unique which means that I will tailor your therapy to suit your needs.

I won't just listen, I will be with you every step of the way and actively work with you to help you overcome the difficulties you are facing. My aim is to help you to develop strategies for managing your difficulties on a daily basis so you will be able to continue using these skills beyond therapy.

Therapy appointments can either be online via Zoom or in-person in a lovely therapy room in the centre of Wetherby, West Yorkshire.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have trained for many years to become a chartered psychologist. After gaining my psychology degree, I started my career working with and supporting people with addictions and completed my Doctorate in Counselling Psychology in 2011, This was followed by completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in 2012 and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing) in 2024.

I have worked in the NHS helping adults overcome mild to severe mental health problems in various settings and I have been working in private practice since 2013.

I have also completed additional training in Mindfulness skills, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and I use all these approaches in my therapy.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BABCP
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
