About me
When you're feeling low or worried, your horizons can shrink. It can start to feel like you are your problem, and nothing more. If you're reading this, you may be ready to seek a fresh perspective. I would be honoured to help you find it.
You are the expert on your experience, and your own deepest wisdom will supply the answers. I offer a space for us to explore the situation from new angles, and bring some light and air back in. We can reflect together, not just on your challenges, but on your gifts and strengths. After all, therapy isn't just about what's "wrong" with you. It's about getting in touch with more of who you are.
I work with adults face-to-face at my offices in central London on a variety of issues, including:
- depression and anxiety
- ADHD, autism, and AuDHD
- questions of meaning and purpose
- overwork and burnout
- feeling stuck
- intense moods, especially anger
- attachment and relationship issues
- living well after a tricky childhood
If you would like to learn more about these topics or about my approach to therapy, you can visit my website and blog: katrinazaatpsychotherapy.com.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Graduate Diploma in Counselling from the Psychosynthesis Trust, and am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).
I assist in the training of foundation-level counselling students at the Psychosynthesis Trust, London.
I participate in ongoing professional development, with a focus on trauma, neurodiversity, and working across differences of lived experience.
My first qualifications were in English Literature, and I previously worked as a writer, editor, and university tutor. I am interested in both creativity and rationality, and I think the liveliest, most helpful therapy partakes of both.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Why not schedule an obligation-free discovery call? I would be glad to have a chat about what you are hoping to get from therapy, and to answer any questions you may have.
If you are seeking a counsellor who shares a certain aspect of your own lived experience, you are welcome to ask me about this by phone or email. If we happen not to be a match, I may be able to connect you with a skilled and empathetic colleague.
