About me

Just as we can sustain physical injury, our emotional wellbeing can be negatively affected by events and circumstances. Counselling can provide you with a safe and confidential space where you can explore your issues, find solutions to your problems and gain an improved sense of wellbeing.

We are all unique and as such, we 'click' with some people better than others. Contacting more than one therapist gives you the chance to work out who is best for you and your needs. I offer an initial free telephone consultation as I value the importance of you choosing the 'right therapist'.

I believe the best therapy happens when you are in the driving seat. My aim is to understand your problems from your perspective, without judgement or criticism. Then together we can work to find solutions and strategies that suit you and which enable you to resolve your issues and regain positive emotional wellbeing.

I work as an Integrative Counsellor. I combine skills and tools from different theoretical approaches (predominantly Person Centred, Transactional Analysis and CBT) in order to provide you with personalised therapeutic support. I am registered with the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist) and I adhere to their Ethical Framework. This means that I uphold the principles of Confidentiality, Autonomy and a commitment to my clients' wellbeing as my highest priority. I also hold an appropriate level of insurance.

I have experience supporting individuals over the age of 16 in both the private and voluntary sector with anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, panic attacks/panic disorder, depression, low mood, anger, phobias, bereavement, trauma, addictive behaviours, abuse, domestic violence, bullying, low self-esteem, personality disorders, self harm, relationship issues, Aspergers syndrome, lack of confidence, feeling sad, substance misuse, self-sabotaging behaviours, stress and more.

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place at the same time each week for as long or short a period as you need. I am also able to be flexible to your schedule where required.

I work out of locations in Southbourne and Winton, both of which are easily accessible by public or private transport.

I appreciate that not everyone wants or is able to meet for face-to-face sessions. I am experienced in both telephone and online counselling and I also offer walk and talk therapy. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have in respect of these.

I respond to enquiries within 24 hours. If you have emailed and have not received a reply, please check your junk mail.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.
