About me

Hello, I am a person-centred Grief Counsellor with 8 years of client experience. If you have experienced a loss and are struggling with your grief, perhaps struggling to process the intense and challenging emotions that can come with such an experience, please take a moment to read my profile and get in touch so we can have a chat. I would like to help.

Loss is something that we will all experience at some point in our lives and yet we all experience it differently. It is too easy to compare our loss and our response to it, to those around us but grief is complex and it can affect every aspect of our lives. My person-centred approach will focus on what is important to you, what you want from therapy and help you gently explore your loss to better understand your grief and the impact its having.

It takes strength to ask for help and I know how important it is, at a time of difficulty, to find the right support, to feel heard and feel safe when feeling vulnerable. I will offer you a safe confidential space and provide clarity in my practice, whilst striving to support you in your grief.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience

I began supporting clients through grief work at Cruse Bereavement Support in 2017 and I have since worked in many roles at Cruse, including facilitating bereavement groups and being a member of their Management Committee. During Covid I supported clients on the helpline and through allocation work, I was able to assist clients in finding the relevant support they needed during their early stages of loss and at a time when sudden and traumatic loss was significant. I have previously worked at a small local charity supporting isolated older people who are bereaved or anticipating loss due to old age. I currently work for a local charity supporting those struggling with poor mental health.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
