About me

Your inner world is waiting to be explored. I’m here to guide you on the journey and support you as you learn to live more fully, creatively and authentically.

I work with people experiencing anxiety, grief, low mood, relationship issues - and anyone who's going through difficult changes in life and trying to find a way forward.

I’m an integrative relational therapist: that means that my practice is informed by various approaches - including transactional analysis, existential therapy, and the psychodynamic - and that the relationship between client and therapist is central.

I came to psychotherapy through an interest in philosophy, meditation, and Eastern contemplative traditions, as well as through my own experience of loss, life changes, and transformations. What I bring to the therapeutic relationship depends on you, the client: starting from a place of warmth, non-judgement, and gentle curiosity, we will create an environment that supports you in moving from survival to flourishing.

Training, qualifications & experience

I'm a fully qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor with a diploma from the Northern Guild. I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and work in accordance with their ethical framework.

I also bring a wide experience from my previous work in international development, journalism, and ethnography. I hold a PhD from University College London, and have lived and worked in Yemen, Tanzania, the DRC, Sudan, and the Netherlands.

I have a special interest in working with:

  • Life transitions and existential issues
  • Grief and loss
  • Anxiety
  • Relationship issues
  • Psychedelic integration
  • Transcultural issues

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
