About me
Hello and welcome, I'm Kate and I am a counsellor based in Worcester Park. We all experience times in our lives when we feel we could do with some emotional help and support. You may have struggled for a long time with difficult feelings or they may have been precipitated by a major life event or trauma such as the breakdown of a relationship or a bereavement. Sometimes there seems to be no obvious reasons for feeling depressed, anxious or simply stuck.
I offer a comfortable, confidential, safe space where we can explore whatever you choose to bring. This can be a unique opportunity to uncover deep rooted and unhelpful patterns, to make sense of your thoughts and feelings. Gaining insight into the past often leads to the opportunity to disentangle it from the present which ultimately builds a bridge to a brighter future.
I work with adults of all ages on an open-ended basis or in a time limited way for an agreed number of sessions, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully. I am committed to providing counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
My practice is within easy reach of Worcester Park and Stoneleigh stations and is on several major bus routes. It's easily accessible from Cheam, Wimbledon, Merton, Epsom, Ewell, Stoneleigh, Sutton and the surrounding areas. There is off-street parking available for the duration of your therapy session.
Although I usually work with clients face to face I am happy to offer online and telephone sessions.
Training, qualifications & experience
Professional Qualifications
Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP)
Diploma of Higher Education in Psychodynamic Counselling, University of Surrey
Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills
Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Concepts
I attend training on a regular basis to maintain and enhance practical skills and continuously develop my clinical understanding. I have also had several years of intensive personal psychotherapy myself and so I know what it is like to be the client in the therapeutic relationship.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
