I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist. A registered Member of British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy, practising in accordance with their ethical framework. My desire is to come alongside you in a time of psychological pain empowering you to explore your problems and develop ways to deal with them. As in the Bible, God instructed Noah to build an ark to protect his family from the storm. I have a vision to create an ark, a safe place for you to enter in out of life’s storms where you can explore and develop strategies to deal with the storms you may be facing.
Throughout my counselling and psychotherapy training I have studied many counselling theories including relational psychodynamic, humanistic, CBT, transactional analysis, solution focussed therapy, brief therapy, mindfulness, Christian counselling. I have a particular interest in how our childhood development affects our coping strategies as adults. Having a broad understanding of many theories enables me to tailor therapy to your individual needs. I am qualified as an adult and children’s and young person’s counsellor. Part of my training has been using creative media in therapy allowing another channel to explore psychological issues.
After a nursing career of over 30 years I have developed a passion for practicing and studying counselling and psychotherapy. This journey has led me from a level 3 counselling certificate to studying MA Counselling (Integrative), my area of research is exploring the issue of sexual abuse by females and counsellor’s attitudes towards it. Along this journey the more I learn and discover the more fascinated I have become and the more driven I am to learn and discover more regarding counselling and psychotherapy.
