About me
Hi, I’m Karen. I work with people who are often seen as strong and capable, but who are quietly struggling underneath it all. You might be dealing with anxiety, burnout, relationship stress, or patterns that feel self-defeating. Maybe you’ve said, “I can’t keep doing this,” and meant it.
You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.
I’ll work with you so you’re able to:
- Slow down and work out what you need — without pressure or judgment.
- Make sense of what’s going on beneath the surface, even if it’s hard to put into words.
- Understand what’s driving your reactions, emotions, or patterns.
- Explore practical ways to feel more like yourself again — calmer, clearer, and more in control.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just tired of carrying everything alone, I’m here to help you find a way forward that actually fits you.
I understand how life can feel heavy — especially if you’re navigating:
- The impact of trauma, addiction, or emotional overwhelm.
- Complex family dynamics or co-dependency.
- ADHD or neurodiversity (diagnosed or undiagnosed).
- Long-term health conditions or changes in ability.
My approach is straightforward, warm, and gently challenging. I’ll ask thoughtful questions, offer honest reflections, and adapt how we work to suit your pace and your needs.
Contact me today to book your free 20-minute consultation and find out how counselling can support you through life’s challenges. I welcome enquiries and am happy to answer any questions you may have.
Training, qualifications & experience
I always wanted to be a nurse—and for many years, I was. Working in the NHS, I supported people through crisis, pressure, and change. It was a role I valued deeply. When sight loss led me to leave that career, I faced a difficult transition. Over time, I found a new way to continue helping others through counselling.
My work draws on both formal training and personal experience, giving me a practical and informed perspective.
Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced Diploma in Counselling.
- Specialist training in trauma-informed approaches
- Experience supporting individuals through trauma, emotional strain, and long-term stress.
- Knowledge of addiction, co-dependency, and compulsive behaviours.
- Understanding of neurodiversity, including ADHD in everyday life.
- First-hand experience of sight loss and adapting to major life changes.
- Personal insight into the effects of familial addiction and mental health challenges.

Further information
Fortunately, I’ve retained functional sight and work with the support of my guide dog, Quella. While she isn’t trained in therapy, she does understand over 200 words, especially her favourite one: biscuit! Once she’s over the excitement of meeting someone new, Quella is calm, gentle, and often brings a sense of comfort to the room. That said, if you’d prefer not to have her in the session, I’m always happy to make that work.
